Summer 2008 League Rules

                            
 

Sports Express will provide ALL BALLS!  DO NOT BRING
your balls.  We will supply about 12 balls in a cart per court for warming
up and game play.  All of these balls need to stay on the court area.  Do not
allow siblings and others to take balls to the lobby or sand area.  This will
remove confusion over volleyballs while you are here.  All balls need to be
rounded up and put into the carts before the game begins.

Officials are paid $8 by each team prior to the match starting. 

Games are 9, 10, 11, and occasionally 12pm.  Teams will have varying
amounts of warm-up time depending on how thegames are running. 
The complex opens at 8:30 on Saturdays.

Standings will be kept and league champions (best winning percentage)
will receive t-shirts from the Volleyball Store.

You do not need uniforms and there are no rosters so you can bring a
different team each week if necessary.  This league is for fun!

Third & Fourth Grades Only: The server may only serve four consecutive
points, offensive team must rotate their players at that point in time.

Serving lines for the 3rd and 4th grades may move into the court 15 feet.

Serving lines for the 5th and 6th grades may move into the court 10 feet.

For all 7th and 8th grade leagues they will play rally scoring to 25 for first
two games and third game to 15. Net serve is allowed.  No libero.

No net serves will be playable (except 7th & 8th grade).

You can receive serve with an overhead pass (a set) in the
6th, 7th, and 8th grade leagues only.   Please note that
there is a difference between double contacts and lifts. Double contacts
are allowed, but lifts are not. This is a judgment call and it will be up to
the judgment of your officials.

You must have 5 players to start a game.  There is no ghost spot which
means you can still have 3 front row players at all times.

Each team has 1 timeout per game (3 per match) and they do not carry
over to subsequent games (use it or lose it).

Substitutions are unlimited.  Just get your players on and off the court quickly
so we can proceed.

The net height from the floor to the top of the net is as follows:
3rd & 4th --------------------- 6 feet
5th & 6th --------------------- 6 feet 6 inches
7th & 8th --------------------- 7 feet 4 1/8 inches

4th grade teams will use Volley Lite balls and everyone else will use the
regulation ball.

The dividers are out of play and may not be moved to play a ball.
