November 22th & 29th

Online Form
(Coaches can bring their daughters to the clinic for free.  We will use some of them for our demos)

This year's series of youth coaching clinics will be run by Mike Seibert and/or Greg Ulland.  Mike is the former head coach at Ursuline Academy (State Champion) and Norwood High School and a member of the Ohio High School Coaching Hall of Fame.  He is also an original member of the Sports Express Volleyball Club (since 1995).  Greg is the current head boys volleyball coach at Moeller High School (State Champion) and girls head coach at Sycamore High School.  There are 4 total clinics that you can attend over 2 days.  You pay one price for each day you attend.  Please read the descriptions below and then send the form at the bottom of this page.  You will pay when you arrive at Sports Express the day of the clinic.  We need all attendees to pre-register so we have sufficient materials and space prepared.  You must register individually (sorry but we get many repeat entries when we allow multiple entries on 1 form).

Clinic #1
Volleyball Coach’s Skill Development Clinic
When:  November 22nd from 1:00pm-4:30pm (3 1/2 hours)
Who
:  CYO coaches in grades 3-8 who are new to the game or want a refresher on proper individual skill technique and development.
Cost
:  $25
Description:
There are 4 primary skills used in volleyball: serving, passing, hitting, and setting.  We will show coaches how to teach those skills using key words, phrases, and techniques valuable to that goal.  Coaches in the 3rd and 4th grades will find this information very valuable, as will 7th and 8th grade coaches who are new or returning to the game.  Handouts will be provided along with lecture and demonstrations but bring a legal pad and clipboard to gain the most from this clinic.  We hope to include a question and answer session as well.  Snacks will be provided.  Any remaining individual question will be answered from 4:30-5pm.

Clinic #2
Volleyball Coach’s Practice Management Clinic
When
:  November 29th from 1:00pm-2:00pm (1 hour)
Who
:  CYO coaches who are new to coaching and want to know how to run a typical practice or coaches who want a refresher on proper individual skill technique and development.
Cost:
$25 (allows you to attend all 3 clinics on Nov. 29th)
Description  You “volunteered” to be the coach for your daughter’s team but are concerned about your ability to run a practice.  We will describe time factors, common sense ideas on getting the most out of a practice session, and other things you'll find valuable for coaching any level of volleyball.  A recommended clinic to complement this one would be the Skills Development Clinic #1.

Clinic #3
Volleyball Coach’s Offensive Systems Clinic
When
:  November 29th from 2:15pm-3:45pm (1 1/2 hours)
Who
:  Any CYO coach who wants to learn about the three different offenses.
Cost:
$25 (allows you to attend all 3 clinics on Nov. 29th)
Description:
You have heard the terms:  5-1, 4-2, and 6-2.  These are the basic offensive systems that are used in volleyball.  Learn how these offenses work, where to position your players, and what might be best for your team.  Coaches will be placed on the court to become aware of where players should position themselves.  Some basic serve receive patterns will also be described.  Handouts will be provided and all questions will attempt to be answered.  Individual skills will not be taught at this clinic.

Clinic #4
Volleyball Coach’s Best Drills Clinic
When
:  November 29th from 4:00pm-5:30pm (1½ hours)
Who:  CYO coaches who want information on running drills.  Okay for a 3rd/4th grade coach but most drills are going to be geared to the older grades where kids have more ball control (6-8).
Cost:
$25 (allows you to attend all 3 clinics on Nov. 29th)
Description:
Drills can make the difference between a good and bad practice and the difference whether your athletes become better.  Mike and/or Greg will give you some ideas on how to come up with your own drills and will describe to you some of his favorite drills to use in teaching different skills.
